I swear, I’m alive out here. What a crazy week. I love when I blink and the week is already half over!
I added a new page to my blog, which I hope you all will enjoy. I will update it as I need.
My Running Log still hasn’t been updated, but maybe sometime today or tomorrow.
More details to follow!
I felt like a kid on the slow bus yesterday in spin. I had the same instructor as Sunday, who was hard core, and I when I entered the room and saw her, I was like “oh shit”. Then I made the mistake of asking her why my knees hurt after spin and she said “You were here this past Sunday, right?” “Yes” So she came over to my bike, adjusted a few things, and told me my knees were pointed outward when I peddle. Okay. Sure. I wasn’t disagreeing, but I don’t know how that happens, it must all be subconscious.
So class started, the sweat started, and she got off her bike, came back over to me, and adjusted the seat again, then increased the resistance. Like, not a little, but a lot. And then the sweat really begins, and I am like holy shit. I felt like I was the only one in the room really working. I later did a quick glace at the surrounding bikes and realized, people don’t increase the resistance when she instructs us to. Then I snicker to myself knowing I did.
I’ve been wearing my Garmin in the gym to gauge my HR. I’m not really obsessed with my HRM, but I find it interesting to see how these classes get my HR up.
Now, that class is an hour long, but I obliviously forgot to turn it on at the beginning. You can see I was grasping for life by the end. When I got home, I couldn’t sit because I also went to “Body Works Plus Abs” prior to spin because I wanted to do my little comparison. The instructor was 30 minutes late, we did some crazy moves, it was… okay. I wasn’t thrilled with it.
I got home, starving and dehydrated, but felt very accomplished thanks in part to the fact that once I saw a few others with no resistance, I knew I was doing what I needed. I just wonder if spin will get any easier?
Happy Friday!
PS—I will be registering Jared and I for the Spirit of Pittsburgh Half Relay, soon! Just as soon as I swallow the $100 fee.
This week flew by. Though when you are working 12 hour days for four days, time really just escapes you
. I was supposed to run with Aimee after work last night, but I got pulled into another 12 hour day. Blah. Oh well, I guess that’s what happens. Life goes on and I am looking forward to the weekend for sure!
I took a much needed running break yesterday, or was forced to having added something else to the agenda. Probably a good idea. I haven’t gone over 3 miles all week, which is fine. My legs were not responding to the runs this week.
I have a “long run” planned tomorrow. It will be 6 miles. Much shorter than accustomed to, however, I am still trying to figure out a training plan for the Spirit of Pittsburgh Half Marathon.
That’s right folks, I’ve got another race lined up for myself =)
Moving on….
I was lucky to have Wednesday night free so I took advantage of it and made dinner.
Pumpkin-Pear Soup
I took these ingredients
Pear nectar (1.5c) , chicken stock (2c), onion(1/4 diced), pumpkin (15 oz), fat free half and half(1c), and pear for “garnish”
and turned it into soup adapted from this recipe. I reduced the half & half measurements, added stock instead, and used black pepper instead of white.
And it turned out lovely. It’s unique. Nectar is so sweet so I was happy to balance it out with the chicken stock. I love fall and was happy to make a soup that reminded me of fall. Jared didn’t indulge, which was fine with me. I’m looking forward to leftovers sometime this weekend.
I’m not certain what our weekend plans are. This gives a good opportunity to relax and forget that Monday exists. I have some ideas which are mainly just getting the house ready for fall and winter. Other than that, the couch is calling my name!
Any fun weekend plans?
