Hey bloggers, not many pictures this post, but I expect to spend the night catching up on all the lovely blogs…
1.) Jared and I are doing well. In fact, we are better than ever. We really needed a catch-up talk like we had Saturday. I need to remind myself of this more often. I think one of my problems is that I assume I’m being open when I’m really not. I love him, and I feel closer to him than ever. That is a great feeling. We are a unique couple, and I love that.
2.) Work has been nuts. I keep inheriting problems from the old manager. Couple that stress with no outlet (i.e., running), and I am one unhappy camper. I ran a little on Monday, around Carnegie, but got a side cramp and stopped. Finally, today, it had built up so much that I stopped at a gym near work and got all of my frustrations out on the treadmill. Let me just say how strange it felt to be running on the treadmill. Sure, it felt great to run in general, but it took some getting used to. 40 minutes of running (real fast!) intervals was just what the doctor ordered. I’m still frustrated with work, but, I need to get my ass outta bed/get warm pants and run in the mornings.
3.) I finally broke down and purchased a pair of running pants. Between not running Monday morning (feeling too cold in capris) and knowing the inevitable winter months ahead, I stopped at Marshalls with no luck. I was going to go to Fleet Feet (and probably will if I invest more into cold weather running gear) but decided to go to Dick’s. Happy, I found a pair of Nike Pants for $50. Yes, $50 is steep, but if anyone’s priced running pants, they are almost always more than $50. I’m sure if I went to FF it would have been $80 or $90. They are sort of warm, so we’ll see how they work out. They look something like…
PS—I love my snipping tool!
Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but I’m stressed out, suffering from post race blues, and am not sure what I have to look forward to!
Oh PS– Just an update. I have been off my pill for about a week. Physically, I feel amazing. I needed to get off that so bad. I’m getting my IUD soon. I’m scared (as hell!), but I need to follow my heart!
Well I made the plunge yesterday. After three years of dealing with a bum battery, missing keys, and not being able to fold my laptop, I decided to replace it. It was badly needed. Though, after my experience yesterday, I am missing my trusty ol’ Dell.
Jared and I went to Best Buy at a huge shopping area of town. We wanted to go to a “nicer” Best Buy than the Waterfront or Century III which are two shopping areas convenient to us but ones that we would try to avoid in fear of getting a bum product… I kind of knew what I was looking for, and it was simply a replacement for my current laptop. I really only use the computer to blog and surf, but I also wanted something that could handle Microsoft Office, which I do still have from my college days. Oh, and the usual photo upload, Garmin & iPod charging, etc. Nothing fancy because it’s not needed for what I use it for.
So that HP is what I ended up purchasing. The sales woman talked me into an optimization which essentially cleans out all of the junk software and provides you restoration CDs in the event the PC crashes. Okay fine. I agreed. $70 later, I was expecting to turn on a PC without all of the junk on it. The CDs were taped to the box and labled with a black permanent marker (this is important). When she went to ring up the purchase, her computer crashed. This was a sign I think.
I let the PC charge a bit while Jared and I walked the dog. I came home to attempt the daunting task of transferring all of the files from my old PC to the new. This was a great attempt at organizing everything, or so I thought. When I booted the PC on, I noticed there was still a lot of junk software. At a closer attempt, I realized, everything was still on the computer. Great. I called Best Buy and explained to them what had happened, to which they responded If you bring it in tomorrow, we’ll have it done for you by the end of the day. Well being the busy woman I am, I really only have time to go back there once tomorrow, not twice. And that is only because my 12 mile run is on the Montour Trail. But I agreed. I was only until after I got off the phone with BB that I noticed there is a black permanent marker line on the PC. Figures.
Do I really want the same “geek squad” working on a PC they didn’t optimize, optimizing this PC? No, I don’t. In fact, I am so upset about this, that I am going to go back and request a refund on the “optimization” and a discount because they would never have sold a PC like this (marked) at full price. Not to mention they took more of my time. Not to mention they didn’t do the work I paid for the first time.
We’ll see how it works. The computer wasn’t terribly expensive, I realize this, but it’s still a major electronic purchase and I would expect to get what I paid for, end of story. We’ll see how my battle with Best Buy goes. I expect to win because (1) I will have just been getting done with running and not in the mood to discuss the situation. It is what it is, sorry your employees are costing you money (2) I expect to be stinky enough to make them deal with me so I can just leave lol
Also, I should mention that this PC is Energy Star rated, and the Dell was not. That was really my incentive to try a new “brand”.
