I will tell you what, I had thought the only thing I really needed was a pair of headphones before the race. When I went to the Apple store yesterday, I also asked them to reset my iPod. For some reason, they diagnosed it as being unable to connect to the syncing cable because it has been water damaged. What the?
Have I submerged my iPod before via a bottle of soda that opened in my bag? Yes, but this was several iPods (and years) ago. Have I inadvertently washed my iPod? Yes, but it came back to life, two iPods ago. Have I used this iPod, as careful as ever, being certain to make sure it comes in contact with no water? Yes, and it still breaks on me.
So the iPod guy offers me 10% off any new iPod purchase or a replacement iPod for $129. No, fix this one dammit! Not to mention, I refused to purchase an iPod so this is actually Jared’s iPod that I have now somehow managed to break! F%*k.
My last resort fix is to put it on my speakers and hope it works some magic. Maybe once its charged it will come back to life. Here’s to hoping.

Speaking of electronic devices, I have my camera battery charging. I want to do a good job of photo blogging the b-day (or, perhaps more importantly, packet pick-up day!

This’ll be my last time running before the half! I need my music to help get me going, but I think at this point, I am just so frustrated that I don’t care anymore.
Yesterday, my 6 mile run was cut short, to 1 mile. As soon as I left the house, I realized it was steadily dropping. Oh well, I needed a break. This is a taper week anyways.
In other news, we have yet another plumbing issue: sewer back-up. I swear, the house we have is amazing, it’s gorgeous and old and the terra cotta pipes are just as old. Both Jared and I cannot take off for a plumber this week so we went to Lowe’s and bought a snake. No luck. I gave up after ten minutes because, well, sewers are disgusting. You get my drift.
What we really need to have done to solve this problem is get the entire plumbing of the house replaced, or at least the main line. That’s not a small job, it’s not an inexpensive fix, either. Think: tearing up concrete foundation in basement, possible excavation, whatever we find under there, replacing everything. Countless other items because I am oversimplifying the process. In addition to the plumbing, we need to replace the kitchen floor, install windows, and future vanity items include replacing the kitchen appliances and remodeling the bathroom. The most immediate need right now are windows. See, the house we bought was a foreclosure, and I guess during the foreclosure process the previous owners took the stained glass windows. I know, its the biggest upset of all. The character of the house is defined by these three windows so to have them missing is a disappointment. I’m committed to replacing them with stained glass or leaded glass. Right now, all that is there is plexi-glass…
We have vintage working sconces (probably not the most energy efficient) , and windows with no glass in them. Jared’s dad found us a replacement for the dining room, and I think we will need to search for two others in salvage. I’ve also priced them at a local stained glass store. Around $300/each, its the same price as replacement windows because they will need to be custom to fit the square dimensions of the existing opening.
My dreams of a new car may be put on the back burner as we decide what to do with the plumbing and windows. The $8,000 tax credit won’t kick in until next year, and we were depending on that money to do the windows, etc. The home warranty may cover the plumbing, but this has happened to us before and for $60, all they do is come and snake it.
In other news, I baked some Almond Butter Cookies yesterday. I am not a huge baker, though I enjoy it, and since I am in charge of the cookie table (coordinating and baking) for Erin’s wedding, I have been trying other recipes…
I’ll post the recipe sometime. They weren’t amazing. They were subtle, they were pretty, but they weren’t amazing.
Have I mentioned how much I love my vintage dessert plates? $4 for 4, thrifted. I used to use them only for desserts or on special occasions. Now, I use them regularly. I may cut-back on using these as if they break, I will be heartbroken
I also tried a vegetable last night I hadn’t ever had before. Brussel sprouts! I never had the urge to try them, so I just never bought them. I saw Alton Brown make them on Good Eats so I decided to try. They were good. I roasted them with a little EVOO and S&P. I also made sweet potato fries (not pre-cut), ribs or Jared, and I nuked some leftover onion soup.
I thought we were out of ketchup until Jared found it!
In other news:
My (Jared’s) iPod won’t sync with the new computer. This is just a minor annoyance, compared to others, so I think I will need to make a trip to the Apple store this week. I was able to transfer all of my music to the new PC, but somehow, my playlists are gone (which is fine), and the bigger issue is that once I plug it into the new PC, it doesn’t recognize it as a an iPod. Who knows. My luck with iPod’s isn’t great.
I also need new headphones. I will need new headphones before the half.
Well, I woke up today feeling pretty good after my run yesterday. I certainly felt better than last week after the 8 miler. I think that’s a sign, of something. Other than the chafing from the sports bra and my Ziploc iPod holder, I feel great.
I woke up and ran over to my old house to pick up my desk chair for our new desk. I haven’t really unpacked in the “office” yet because 1.) It feels strange and 2.) I don’t know how to decorate it. I will over time, I expect
.
Then I literally ran/walked the dog for a good 2-3 miles. My Garmin wouldn’t sync up quickly (I blame it on location change), so I cant be accurate. So I took Ambrose and would walk him a block then sprint to the next block. It seemed like a good (half hearted) attempt at fartleks/recovery run. I know, silly. Last week, I couldn’t even run after my 8 miles(sore) but today was a different story.
I came home and wanted a smoothie. I was a sweaty mess…
Into the blender I put 5oz plain yogurt, about 1.5 c blueberries, 1/2 banana, lemon oil, and covered it with milk.

My blender is old (it was given to me by my parents, from when they were married 30 years ago). Certainly no Vitamix. But it works.
The result? A blueberry-lemon smoothie. The combo of blueberry and lemon is delish. Lemon oil is not like EVOO or Sunflower Oil, its an essential oil, and comes in a tiny bottle.

Jared and I went to Costco to look at computers (I’m sure you’ve noticed the missing keys on my laptop… thanks Ambrose!) and I think we both decided on a regular PC, though I love the portability of a laptop, they just don’t last as long as PC’s… For example, the battery dies, the wear and tear, etc. This is my first laptop, and while convenient, certainly not economical (unless you are the type to upgrade every 2 years, which I am not).
We then went to Best Buy where we made the mistake of looking at TVs and got sucked into a 30 minute “sales pitch” from the BB guy… Note I put ” ” because he was certain to tell us several times they aren’t commissioned…
A photo of the pup post fartlek (fart-walk, walk-lek)?

I’m pretty bad at being a food blogger! Let’s just image a great cup of coffee, lots of water through-out the day, and pasta and garlic bread for dinner.
Though, I did get to enjoy my kashi waffle & pnut butter today.

Work “slowed down” a bit today, but there is still lots to get done! My voicemail is constantly full and my staff (who I love!) is in and out. But I am getting a lot done. Probably more than has been done in awhile =)
I also got another basket of flowers and a tree today! I need to take a few pictures. I also really want a diploma frame from my Alma Mater, but they are a little pricey. But I guess with this new job, I can afford it

Then I suppose I should buy one for my Pitt diploma, too…
My run today was two-fold! I joined a gym near my work for the week, so I stopped there after work and did a quick 30 minutes on the treadmill. I swear, they don’t call it a dead mill for nothing! That was a long 30 minutes staring at whatever people use to pass the time! I came home and literally ran down to my old house (which I still have stuff at from the move lol) to grab Jared’s iPod USB port. Since I got him an iPhone for his birthday, he is letting me use his clunky 80G iPod lol. Hey, I gotta have my “Womanizer” lol, if even for the first 5 minutes of the run…
All in all, I ran about 5 miles today, which I’m thrilled about as a workin’ woman
Love
Morning bloggies. I am sipping this as I write this post…

Well, I started my first night as Borough Manager last night. Let’s just say they threw me into the fire and I sat through a 3.5 hour agenda meeting for next weeks public meeting. I will reserve all comment for another time. I will just say that its amazing how off-topic a group of adults can be when they talk about things such as parking, paving (roads), police dogs, and recreation fields. Needless to say, Monday’s will be my long day.
Sometime this week, I will be replacing my phone (and phone bill) with this little gadget…

I am officially owned. But am excited because the picture quality on my blog should greatly improve lol
Also, I think my iPod post jixed me as my shuffle (on loan from my mother) decided it doesn’t want to work anymore.
I think I ought to just resign to the fact that I will need to replace these things every few years. We’ll see how boring I find my runs by Friday and Saturday.
I’ll be back later today blogging from the office at lunchtime!
Lots of Love
