Hi Everyone. I feel like I have been MIA lately… My work nights have been long, some nights this week, and I’ve had the pleasure of making dinner for my father. I made the guys steak, broiled, I had a veggie burger. We had the most delicious corn, rice, and flax rolls. My father, of all people, loved these rolls!! Bonus!

I spent an hour or so in Shadyside yesterday where I visited William Sonoma, Sephora, and E.B. Pepper which is a nice little boutique. I also picked up our (Jared + I) race packets for the Run Around the Square. I’m not really using this race for pace or anything for the Half. I think I’ve gushed about this race before, but it’s one of the most fun 5ks I’ve ever run.

I also noticed, much to my disappointment, that Larabar is not listed as a sponsor. Guess that means no backpack full of samples (though that was a joke and I realize sarcasm is not always understood through the written word). Though the weather won’t be sweltering like last year. And I feel prepared for the hills ;)

While in Shadyside, I did pick up the “surprise” for my Blogger Giveaway.

Yesterday, before all of the Shadyside excitement, I slept in for my run (guess I couldn’t be so lucky, eh). I did give myself enough time to do level 2 and half of level 3 of the 30-day shred, so I left semi-content for the day =)
This definitely helped.

Blue-Green Smoothie Known in the blog world as a green monster
DSCN0154

Three handfuls of spinach
Two handfuls of frozen blue berries
1 splash milk and Acai Berry
half banana

It made a lot, and I finished about half. It was refreshing after a Jillian Michaels workout and the milk gave enough protein for me not to be sore today. I prefer no ice in my smoothies. The frozen fruit blends much nicer, too.

Oh, and have I mentioned? TGIF!

A shot of Fruitology Braz A Vie post run (stuff is amazing!)

I was really busy at work today, but managed to snack on Crunch N Munch around 3:00 (no picture, sorry!). That stuff really isn’t that good, but it was there and I hadn’t packed anything…

Dinner was delish. I scrambled one egg, two whites, and a few spoonfuls of salsa. I added spinach as they were done cooking and allowed it to steam on top of the eggs. Wrapped into a wrap and ready to eat…

Sorry, the flash went off, and I’m using my Blackberry for convenience. I may have another shot of Braz A Vie before taking Ambrose on his daily walk. It gives you a nice boost, its amazing!

Off to: walk the puppy then relax in front of the tv!

It’s almost 11:30 and Jared is still sleeping! Talk about a lazy Saturday!

As a brief aside: Paula Deen is absurd. She is obnoxious in some of the worst ways. When you are a millionaire, you are no longer a broken-english southerner.

Here are some pikkies of the run… It was glorious. I love the Montour Trail the mostest ;)

Before, I had my coffee and a FiberOne Fiberful bar. I couldn’t find these on their website to link to it, but it was around 170 cal (ate it in two parts), 4-5g of fat, and 9 grams of fiber. It didn’t bother me on my run. Let’s just say that.
9mile

This is the halfway point. I got there, and I thought, okay. I’m only 4.5 miles away from start. I think the worst part of running is the first few miles.
9mile2

And you run through an old railroad tunnel. Seriously, on the way back it was like 20 degrees cooler in here. It felt great! Sorry for the blurry pic, I was feeling good at this point and didn’t want to stop.
9mile3

This is pretty much how it looks the whole way. I passed this amazing wild flower on my way out. On my way back, I couldn’t find it =(
9mile4

I came home and had an egg (nuked), a Laughing Cow Cheese, on a toasted Arnold Wheat Thin. A peach on the side and some Fruitology Braz A Vie. Delish

If you missed my post about 2 weeks ago on the Fruitology Coconut Cleanse, check it out…

In the shipment, they sent a bottle of this as well. I’ve been meaning to review it for some time, but after 13 hour work days, I barely want to think. Today was a perfect day for this!!

Per the Fruitology Website

Fruitology Authentic Braz a Vie is just as it states—Açai from Brazil unlike other Açai products that are processed in China which dilutes the natural benefits of the fruit. The Açai berries used in Braz A Vie are traditionally harvested in the same manner that they have been for centuries without incurring any damage to the rainforest itself.

Açai has been used for many generations by the natives of Brazil. Açai boasts 10 times the antioxidant benefits of grapes and twice that of blueberries. The Brazilians describe Acai as being its most important plant species because it makes up such a major part of their diet.

The açai berry was first used by the tribes of the Amazon jungle as a cure for various ailments.* Researchers soon got wind of açai berry’s benefits and realized it could be advantageous to the well-being and health of the western world. Our diets are often flooded sugars & caffeine to enhance energy but, açai is a natural vitalizer, with the vibrant taste of berries and a hint of chocolate

No shot pictures this time sorry… Probably for the best ;)

I tried this the Braz A Vie, straight up, after being chilled in the fridge…

DSCN0121

I tipped the cup to the side because I wanted to point out something: This stuff is thick, almost like a puree. Not thick in a chalky way, but thick like the folks at Fruitology handpicked some Acai berries and put them in their processor/blender. Then again, these are first impressions. I’m clicking between Tabs and learning, yup! it’s puree. The ingredients are also evaporated cane juice, acai juice, and citric acid… Take a look at the nutritionals…

How did it taste??
So. Flippin. Good. I am so excited about this supplement. It’s smooth, but has some bite to it. Not a bad bite, either. And I felt really good after drinking it! Now, as a girl who loves her coffee(and unashamed), this is a different kind of kick. This is like your body going “ahh thank you”. I loved this stuff! I can see myself having a shot of this mid afternoon to kick myself back into gear (which is when I tried it today) or in the morning, adding it to a smoothie. Oorrr, dare I say, making it into a smoothie itself….

Just word of caution, from the folks at Fruitology echoed by myself: Anytime you increase your fiber, increase your water as well. This may not apply as much for the Braz A Vie, but certainly for the Coconut Cleanse. And in general: drink water. Water is good!

Christina and Laurie: Thank you so much for the great product, I am thrilled by your generosity and impressed (and hooked!) on the product.

I first heard of Fruitology when I got my Costco flyer a few weeks ago. I was interested in learning more, so I visited the website…

Fruitology was founded by a committed group of food technologists with the desire and passion to bring science and nature together to formulate delicious, wholesome supplements and beverages that the whole family can enjoy.
Our creative and technical backgrounds combined years of research on the benefits of fruits and vegetables, we invested all our resources into the quality of our products.
Our team is made up of experienced food technologists and being parents first, we are committed to excellent products that we are proud to serve to our own family. We also have the best (picky) taste-testers around! So, not only are our products healthy, they are delicious too!

Hmm. I liked that, but I was a little apprehensive. The price seemed nice (about $15/bottle) but I honestly didn’t want to invest in a huge bottle of supplement if I didn’t love it. So, I e-mailed the Fruitologists and asked for a sample, expecting a small trail bottle of Coconut Cleanse and/or Braz A Vie.

Nope, I got this in the mail tonight. A box too big for a mini shooter…

Two huge bottles!! Exciting… But how does it taste…?

I wanted to try the coconut cleanse first. The FAQ and bottle instruct…
Unlike other cleanse products, The Coconut Cleanse was designed to be part of your every day regime. For the first 5 days you take 1 oz prior to your morning meal and 1 oz prior to your evening meal. After that, you take 1 oz daily prior to your morning meal.
So it made sense to try this tonight…

I put it on ice, smelled the wonderful coconuttieness of it all, and prepared myself as if I were taking a shot of Jameson (for whatever reason…).

It was good!! The ingredient list is semi-impressive, although, and this is just me, but I always wonder what “natural flavor” means… The purple must come from the other juice blend in this. As far as the Cleanse aspect of it all. I will report back in one week

Will I drink it straight up? Yes.
Will I add it to smoothies? Sounds like an experiment.
