Happy Hump Day, everyone!  What blistery cold nice morning it is outside!  I am trying to keep positive with these weather days, because before I know it, I will be freezing my ass off, regardless of how much I sweat. ;)

A few random tidbits:

Running (outside) Heart Rate VS. Treadmill running:

According to the Garmin, my average hear rate was higher during “regular” running, but it didn’t fluctuate as much during treadmill running.  I tend to think more fluctuation=more muscle exhaustion=harder to run.  This, of course, is not scientific but based on experience.  In fact, I never wore a HRM during running until the Garmin.

Dinner last night was a Costco Veggie Burger taken from the freezer topped with lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard.  My sides were mini sweet peppers and hummus.  I bought a 3lb “bag” of these adorable peppers at McGinnis and plan to make Jared  “Organic Beef” Chili with them.  I would like to stir-fry mine with some tofu, or make a veggie chili.  =)

You can get an idea here of what our windows used to look like: stained glass removed from the former owners who foreclosed, covered only by a cheap plexi-glass backing.

Thanks to Jared’s father, we now have handmade windows to, at least, keep the heating bills low through-out the next few winters…

As you can see, it’d be nearly impossible to match the stain on the new wood with the existing trim.  I do really like the contrast.  The glass is a simple thick glass.  Jared’s father suggested I get creative and buy an etching kit, but I think I will pass.

Though temporary, I really do like the windows, and I think our gas bill will agree.

When we are ready for a more permanent replacement, I think we will take the plunge for stained glass, and Jared’s father will make oak frames from his grandfather’s tree.  When we leave the house, the handmade windows will come with us.

Grrr! I’d be so angry that the former owners took the stained glass windows! I love when homes have those kind of older, beautiful, unique character features instead of the new McMansion look.

  • Michelle:

Love the new windows!! I’ll definitely still do the guest post for you. Just got home from an interview but am hoping to work on it tonight and tomorrow.

  • N–I know. The windows are what MAKES this place at times (aside from the pocket door which they did not take!)

Michelle–I’m so glad you are going to post! I miss your blog already!
